My Jin-venture at the Rainy City of Vancouver. :]

Okay, so here I am delivering my promised fan report of the Vancouver leg of Jin's Japonicana tour. Hopefully I remember all the little bits and pieces, because I'm seriously having trouble recalling the specific details. XD First of all, I'd like to give massive thanks to the Jin Tour Staff for making it possible for me to actually watch and meet Jin. Donna of Plan C Agency, thank you for your unending patience. :) To you who voted and rooted for me, you all have my eternal gratitude. Jin, I might have to use another separate post to thank you, seriously. You ll made someone's dream come true—I can never find enough words of appreciation to fully express my gratitude. Thank you, so, so much.

Here's a little guide on how this report is gonna go: if you want to skip to the concert and meet and greet details, please ignore all the posts before Day of the Concert | Pre-concert and start on this aforementioned section. The ones before it are basically just a bunch of funny stories that highlighted our trip—not too important. Okay. Here we go.

March 9, 2012 | Day of the flight to Vancouver

  • I left home around 4:30 in the morning and waited for my flight for two hours. I used the waiting time as well as the entire flight's duration to study for my Statistics course. That was kind of the suckiest point of the entire experience, and since I brought it to myself, I directed to it no hostility at all. XD Some dude who seemed to function in a little bit of an impaired manner at 5AM kissed my hand and I was baffled, at the same time, I was doing my best impersonation of Kame's bitch face. Said bitch face did not work. Note to self: work on Kame bitch face for future defensive use.

  • It was a 3 hour trip, leaving Winnipeg at 7AM, but I arrived there around 8:30AM, since there was a time difference of two hours. I met up with my grandpa and went around Vancouver a little bit. We went back to the airport at 2PM to pick An up from her massive flight from New York (connecting from New York to L.A. then to Vancouver) and caused a commotion over at the arrival area by squealing and giggling in an uncontrollably loud manner. We went out for lunch in a Filipino restaurant and headed off to Sandman Hotel to check in. :]

  • Around dinner time we scoped out where the venue was, and afterwards we headed to the Pacific Centre for a light stroll (where we got lost a couple of times LOL). While we were looking around we saw a Japonicana Tour poster pasted on a lamp post, but since it was raining in Vancouver that day, it was all icky and moist and the glue was slimy at the back, so much too our dismay, we just stared at it longingly, LOL.

  • We watched Queen of Pirates the entire night! (Notreallywefellasleepbytheendofthefirstdisclololol.Fail)

March 10, 2012 | Day of the concert, Meet Up with Tumblr friends

  • Me and a couple of Tumblr friends (Caite and Yvonne) decided to have lunch together and look around the funner parts of downtown. We met in front of the Pacific Centre and headed down the busier, prettier, more asian-y streets, and it was really a nice time. :] We ate at a Korean restaurant called Apgujong (they really have good Bulgogi and Ddukkbokki) and afterwards as we were strolling along the streets idly, we saw this adorable Japanese parfait cafe and I immediately bee lined all of us towards its general direction. (I had a green tea parfait, An had a marscapone, and both Caite and Yvonne got cheese cakes they're all srsly too pretty to eat.) We also came about a karaoke place with all the J-pop, K-pop, C-pop songs and I'd be damned if we didn't use and abuse that place too, so we blasted the microphones with KAT-TUN, NEWS, and random K-pop songs for one hour. We also went to Book Off and looked around, but since An already gave me a bunch load of magazines, I opted not to buy anything. XD I think the best part of our pre-jinventure was our poster hunting spree, LOL. We basically walked through the streets keeping an eye out for Japonicana posters, and we garnered about five pieces in total—as well as all the weird looks from the people that witnessed our wall scratching and ninja stealing techniques. XD We also bagged a couple of SM Entertainment posters, which was a nice bonus.

March 10, 2012 | Day of the concert, Pre-Concert

  • We arrived at the venue around 15 minutes before the doors opened, and we've already grabbed our tickets which was at the center orchestra, around 5 to 6 rows away from the stage, the seats smack dab at the center of the section. One staff member was handing out colored photocopy prints of Jin's Japonicana flyers, so those who went there earlier managed to grab one. Me, Caite, An, and a couple of friends Caite was supposed to meet with were waiting along the queue a soon enough they let us in, but they kept us waiting outside the main theater doors for about 15 to 20 minutes more.

  • All in all, Jin managed to fill the theater okay, but not to the point of overflow or anything like that. I can still see big patches of empty seats by the sides, and also the upper balcony was quite empty. The boxes at the side were filled in okay. Truthfully speaking, I was kind of disappointed at the turnout. But still, for somebody with no extensively carried out promotion, he attracted quite the crowd.

  • He had two opening acts for the show; first was Ellise Estrada who's also from Vancouver, and the second was Joseph Vincent who was one adorable dude with a great set of vocals. I recorded his first performance as well, if you're interested. The man has mad skills, and he worked up the crowd pretty well. Such a sweet guy. <3 There was a fifteen minute intermission after the opening acts.

March 10, 2012 | Day of the concert, Concert itself

  • SUN BURNS DOWN's intro played. The entire crowd rose up to their seats even with the curtain still drawn close, and the cheers were mind-blowing. The curtains rose up a few seconds later, and Jin is at the center stage with his dancers. He's wearing a skull shirt (AHA—AHAHAHAHAAakame), a pair of sun glasses, a scarf, and baggy pants that was a serious threat to his balance but since he's Jin fucking Akanishi he worked it only Jin fucking Akanishi could. Here, take my gift of gratitude to you: SUN BURNS DOWN FANCAM. Enjoy my possibly indictable act of illegality, LOL.

  • TELL ME WHERE was next. Aside from the very nice vocals, I can't remember anything that's specifically worth mentioning.

  • #SCREAM SET LOVE FREE. This song. THIS SONG. I can't. I am sorry. It was amazing live. It sounded even better live. In the actual recording, the chorus and the high notes sounded quite strained—but in the performance, it was just an outburst of his vocal range. It was perfect. The dance for it was cute too djkdfnrgn—it kind of had this Hawaiian feel to it, a lot of gentle swaying and it's just really soothing and fun and perfect. But then there's also this mild—no more of really STRONG girl-to-girl body waves here and there but still. Awesome song is awesome. THERE.

  • BODY TALK. Very nicely performed. Perfect vocals. He was standing over at the elevated structure of the stage, spotlight directed on him, little if not no blinding laser lights, and there were two dancers, a boy and a girl, dancing a modern jazz choreography over at on side of the stage. The dancers were amazing—they seemed like people plucked out of So You Think You Can Dance. This song was interpreted into a performance in a very classy way. AND. There was a very subtle Jin body wave in that performance that not many people seemed to notice. What—people how can you not. #sobs

  • LIKE YOU was a very fun performance. :D There was an actual crowd participation for it, and I think it's easy to gauge how it goes. One finger to the haters (middle finger), Two fingers to the past (peace sign), High five girl me made it (high five) and that ran through everytime that verse rolls around. Sdjnfrnf I just love crowd participation, even if it this particular one entailed being a little bit vulgar LOL. XDD

  • PINDOM. The crowd went wild. Everybody was pumping their fists to the beat, and at the beginning Jin didn't really initiate it, but when he noticed almost everybody was doing the same move, he began endorsing it too, LOL. Cutie pie. XDD

  • INTERMISSION for fifteen minutes.

  • THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID opened the second half of the show. Okay. I think I've made it very clear that I do not approve of this song. Which is why I found it just slightly relieving that Jin wasn't there for about half of the song. That very performance was the very first time I even dared listening to it, and it's also a relief that the words are so incredibly synthesized that I cannot understand any of it. Small consolation for my already injured soul, LOL. XD The choreography of the dancers—well, all sexy, slightly S&M kind of feel with them holding the red strips of clothes they constantly bite on and curl against body parts and all that. They were dressed in leopard body suits and dark eye make-up—nothing surprising. IT WAS FUNNY THOUGH. Jin comes out by the second chorus with a cup in between his teeth and his phone whipped out, recording the crowd. He just might want video-based evidence on how uncomfortable TWSS made people feel LOL I can't seriously. Now he's dressed in a blue denim-colored polo shirt, jeans, and I think he also had his glasses on. Also, I think, when it came to the 'swallow X infinity' part, the girls were in a line and were doing squats on the floor oh god LOL and Jin was over at one side, surveying the scenery appreciatively. (I hope you get what I mean.) (It was a look that said 'Chyeeeaahhhhhh') And surprisingly, it wasn't at all disgusting for me—it was more of OH GOD LOL STOP IT YOU ARE NOT CONVINCING ANYONE OF YOUR HETEROSEXUALITY YOU'RE REALLY JUST A GENTLE LITTLE PUPPY OFF STAGE OKAY NICE TRY BB LOL.

  • APHRODISIAC came on next. Seriously one of the best songs in the album. The crowd was going crazy.

  • TEST DRIVE followed soon after, starting at Jason Derulo's verse. During that time, the strobe lights were red and white and it was too cool since it totally gave off a Tokyo Drift-slash-NASCAR feel. There were two dancers waving around checkered flags at either side of the stage. FUNNY THING that Caite discovered was that the reason why Jin wore his dim sun glasses all the time was that he looks at the lyric monitor constantly, and the sun glasses hid that. XD He didn't have the sun glasses on during Test Drive, and he was periodically glancing down at the monitor below him. XD CU. TIE. PIE.

  • YELLOW GOLD entered full force, and the crowd was fist pumping the entire time. Gahhh lovely crowd participation. Also, the dancers had this futuristic feel to their choreography.

  • OOWAH had some crowd participation too; Jin made us repeat after his Oowah's but I don't think it followed quite well, LOL. He also urged us to 'put our (NONEXISTENT) drinks up in the air'. .. Oh Jin.

  • CLUB MIX was next, though I think this was just a remix playing—not sure. I can't remember. I suck.

  • CALIFORNIA ROCK had such fire. It got the crowd moving a lot, and it also showcased some of his back up dancers, so it was all good.

  • Encore of SEASONS. It was beautiful. He performed it with expressions and movements that were exactly the ones in his PV and his Japan performances. Phones and glow sticks went up and the crowd swayed on its own accord—Jin followed soon after LOL. He's not very good with initiating fan movements. XDD Fucking adorable I can't even.

  • He ended it with a fancy, deep bow and remained in that position until the curtain drew down.

March 10, 2012 | Day of the concert, Meet and Greet

  • This is, by the way, where I get emotional. Pardon my feels.

  • So from what the staff e-mail had told is, we were to wait along with those who purchased the presale tickets (which included a meet and greet) and a representative will call us to the venue. Me and my friend were already getting quite antsy because we didn't receive a VIP pass that would allow us to stay within the area, and the security guards were already going “those who don't have a VIP pass, out”. So we went up to a staff member who directed us to the man who was the main representative for the meet and greet. Luckily they recognized me even without asking for the identification card that I was supposed to show during that time. Yayness.

  • They placed both of us on the very front, which was kind of the total opposite of what we were aiming for. XD At least if we were at the very back we'd be able to watch Jin from afar in a much longer time, but we were dropped smack dab at the beginning, the table where he was going to be at just practically three feet from where I was standing.

  • While waiting (I was literally holding on the the wall because my legs were shaking both from nervousness and from tiredness), we were chatting with the security guard, who was quite impressed with Jin, but mentioned that the concert was quite short. XD I agreed wholeheartedly, LOL. He's also the one who gave me the official set list the staff was using for the concert. Thank you security guard-san, LOL. XD

  • So I was just standing there, trying to mentally and emotionally prepare myself, running mental practices on what I want to say, when the door by our left swung open and he finally arrived. He was wearing a more comfortable set of clothes which I failed to pay attention to because of my great shock, but he was wearing a very soft looking beanie.

  • Since I was in beginning of the line, he was smack dab right beside me as he got into the meet and greet area, and I didn't really know how a normal JE fan should act when subjected to these kinds of situations—I was seriously considering bowing a small bow which I deemed not so much of a great idea, so I kind of word vomited on him and blurted out a half cheerful, half panicky “Hi Jiiiiiiin! *wavewave*” which he answered with a “Hey guys” in a really soft and silky voice that was like chocolate melting urjn;veujkrnf;jnf. He looked tired, and his eye bags were quite visible, so another round of word vomit came about and I asked him “Hey, are you okay? Do you feel tired?” in a really concerned voice that I wasn't able to control. He smiled a little and said “Yeah, a little bit, but I'm okay.”

  • So I had one mission to accomplish in this meet and greet, and that was to give him the present I made for his last birthday, which was an English version of Eternal. I had it burned in a little 3 inch by 3 inch CD, and I stuck a post it inside it that outlined that what the CD contained. So when my turn officially started, the first thing I did was to push the CD towards his direction and said “Hi Jin, so—I kind of want you to have something. This is my birthday present for you during your last birthday. It's okay, you can throw it out if you want to, I just want to take the chance and try giving it to you.” He was picking up the CD from the table when he said “No, it's okay, thank you. What's in it?” I—kind of got pretty embarrassed with all the staff around so I said in an even quieter voice, with my smile getting really awkward, “It's an English version of Eternal.” and he replied with a “Oh, okay, I'll listen to it.” and moved the CD to his left hand side, right at the spot next to his arm. (I noticed. Urgh I sound pathetic holy shit.)

  • So the post it with my name on it somehow ended behind the poster that he was going to sign, and I chose the name Nhixxie just because it's my fandom name. He peeled it off from the table and stuck it on a spot a little bit higher—and then that's when the lady staff member went “Oh! That's really your name? The same on on her Youtube page—” I kind of went “Uh—” And then the lady went “She's the one from the contest—” and then another man from the staff chirped in, “She's the one who won your contest—” And then when I looked back at Jin he was already looking up from the poster he's signing, and his expression was one of realization and he went “Oh! So that was you!” Then suddenly there was light at my left and there was a fucking camera on my face and it's recording me having an internal heart attack. I was clutching my temples now because everything was beginning to be unbearable to my fan feels, and word vomited again and went “Oh god, you watched my video?” He looks down to finish signing my name, and as he did he said, “Yeah, I did!” I seriously wish on all the powers of the world that he didn't hear me go Oh Jesus under my breath because I totally did and I was about to seriously die. And then he looked up and said the words that I am still repeating over and over and over again like it's permanently, stubbornly etched in my mind “You were—just awesome, thank you. Thank you so much.”

  • /emotionaloutpouroffeelsherefeelfreetoskipover/ JFC JIN WHY SRSLY. Why would you say thank you to me, just—WTF oh god I should be the one saying that. Are you even—why are you—you're the one who kind of got a hold of my life and flipped it right, left, front, back, and center why would you say that Jesus Christ da fuq did I ever do to deserve that.

  • Of course that much of a word vomit would be impossible during that time, so I just semi-stuttered, semi-smiled, “What? No, thank you! It's seriously a pleasure just being here, seriously. Thank you.” So I reached out my hand and he shook it, and he was standing up, I could tell (I heard hugs were given during the LA con), but I just continued shaking his hand because the table was really big and was quite in the way. I kind of—didn't want him to exert anymore effort than necessary, so I just settled for a hand shake. Y______Y I hope the rest of the people behind me got hugs?

  • I waved him goodbye and went off.

  • Isn't it funny that all of these transpired for only a minute? XD

  • That is why you never make a fanfiction writer make highly personalized fan accounts of their highly emotional experiences.

EDIT: Our meet and greet pictures came~!

That was it. :] I hope this had been thorough enough for your liking. And I'm really sorry about my feels. If you want a version of that meet and greet scenario without the feels, I have one right HERE. These past days have been the happiest of my life, and I still can't believe I was able to experience it.

Omggggg it looks like you had so much fun :D I was dying when I read your meet & greet section, because that's exactly how I would react but probably worse, lmao. You were more composed than I would've been at least XD Anyways, I'm going to the concert tomorrow and now that I know he's gonna sing Pindom, I'm even more excited! c: Question though, does he just stand around mostly, or does he actually try to dance? I'm just hoping I don't see him being all stiff on stage without doing much (he looks a bit stiff for SBD, tbh :().

Sorry, I've never really talked to you on tumblr before, but I'm glad that you won (congratz!!!) /creepcreep You were one of the few that I felt geniunely loved Jin and deserved every last bit of the prize. The fact that you're showing this much gratitude for just a single minute with him is proof. ♥

He does mostly stand around, sad to say, but he does get on with the music periodically. :] Oh, it's okaaay, no worries, half of my Tumblr people don't talk to me LOL. XD Thank yo so much, and it means a lot to me--you thinking about my genuineness. :) Thank you.

I'm going to preface this comment by noting that I'm not an Akanishi fan.
This was SO much fun to read :')
Jin's incredibly lucky to have a fan such as yourself!!!
